Unkempt – A Poem

Hairy plug hole
In the bath
Why do you remind me
Of Sylvia Plath?

Crumpled bathmat
On the floor
Catching under
The bathroom door

Folded dishcloth
On the tap
Open bottles
Discarded cap

Strange how small things
Can annoy
Like mistaking vinegar
For sauce of Soy

Broken light switch
Scratched veneer
Chipped potato
The smell of beer

Garden junk yard
Smashed up car
Proximity of yobs
Not too far

But every so often
You will see
A lovely house
(I’m sure you’ll agree)
